India holds different cultures, languages, dialect, style, foods, rituals and customs etc. In the same way, people from different states and union territories have been entertaining themselves by playing different regional games. There was a time also in India when people used to play different games like archery, fencing, wrestling, horse-riding etc. for the sake of entertainment. Many of these games have been successful in maintaining its existence by descending in new forms in new India whereas there are many such rural, regional, territorial games which are awaiting some messiahs to regain either its existence or have been lost somewhere in today modernization.

There are many indigenous games in India which are being played in world sporting arena. Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Chess etc are the prominent ones used to be played in India in different states under different names. All these are indigenous games having started from India and become the first choice in many big countries.
The origin of Hammer ball also belongs to one indigenous sport which is being played in different rural areas and states under different names. In north India, this game is known as Kaandi, Guchchi danda, Pilpaddo. In western India, it is known as Laal Int, Lupo, Gend-tonk, in Maharashtra Chhudri, in Punjab and Chandigarh Guchchhi-malkarn and in Rajasthan as Duti-nappal. This game is being played for the last around seven to eight decades almost in entire India with partial difference in rules and regulations. Now onwards there will be a commitment with a glossary and manual to play this game not only in India but in entire world with a name and mark. This booklet has been drafted to explain the rules and regulations of this game. This is a game to be played between two teams, the playground, rules and conditions have been explained in detail in next pages.
